Program, Registration, and Travel Information

The conference is free and open to the public.

And a note on presenter registration:

The registration fee for presenters is $15 if payment is made in advance, or $20 when you arrive at the conference. Registration fees include the cost of bagels and coffee both mornings for breakfast, and assorted snacks in the afternoon on Saturday. Checks can be made out to "Linguistics Student Organization", and sent to the address below. Please have the checks in the mail no later than Wednesday, April 21st if you plan on paying in advance.

Call for Papers

The UW-Madison Linguistics Student Organization invites submissions for papers to be presented at the 8th annual Workshop in General Linguistics (WIGL), to be held on Saturday-Sunday, April 24-25 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Papers are welcome in any field of descriptive, applied or theoretical linguistics. After the workshop, presenters may submit papers for online publication in the LSO Working Papers in Linguistics.

Abstracts should be at most one page, with one inch margins and 12 point font. A second page may be included for references and/or data. Abstracts should be submitted electronically by mailing an attachment in Word (.doc), plain text (.txt), or .pdf format to majohnson25@wisc.edu by January 24, 2009. You will be notified of the status of your submission by mid-February. Abstracts should be anonymous, with only the title of the paper at the top of the page. In the body of the email message, please include the following identifying information:

-Author's name
-Affiliation (institution and department)
-Title of paper
-Email address that should be used to contact the author

WIGL is an annual conference sponsored by the Linguistics Students Organization
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The workshop is open to presentations in
any field of linguistics. The proceedings are published online in the LSO
Working Papers in Linguistics.
